Ben Fitzgerald

A young writer and director, Ben Fitzgerald’s work is defined by its sophisticated yet humanistic aesthetic and narrative intensity. Having already developed a recognizable visual style, his work transcends the worlds of art, social advocacy and popular culture.

A second generation filmmaker, Ben grew up in Bondi, Sydney immersed in the world’s of surf and skate culture – topics that continue to inspire his personal and professional work. Ben’s seminal projects include music videos, shorts and documentaries.

A search for truth and social justice defines much of Fitzgerald’s oeuvre. His short film 'Why I drink' achieved viral acclaim with over 170,000 hits on VIMEO and exemplifies his slick, singular aesthetic and his ability to convey the often turbulent inner lives of adolescents and outsiders.

A natural collaborator Ben is inspired by the work of directors such as the Coen brothers and Quentin Tarantino, and photographer Susan Lipper.
